Mixed pine needles (more Greens.. few yellows & browns), coiled and wrapped around a 3.50" wood center with an "Eternal Rings" cut-out. I painted and sealed the wood with Black on the outer edge, in the center the Circles are painted Antique Gold, Metallic Gold and Metallic Copper.
Sinew in Black, Natural and earth tone Orange are the only 3 colors to be used in this Basket. Two (2) "open roaming coils" on opposite ends are twined through each other mimicking the center design, which has now changed this Basket into a more oval shape, with gently flaring sides.
Basket measures...6" Across x 2" Tall........Finished - 5/19/09

Remember this Basket? I am trying out my newly discovered "Forward X stitches" on this one. On top of the 1st coil of "forward X's" in Orange, the next coil of X's (in Black) is making a "V pattern" on the outside of the Basket wall, but making more "X's" on the inside wall.....hmmmm.....different than I expected. I'm going to try a 3rd coil of "forward X's" and see what happens on the 2nd coil. Measures 5.50" across by 2" tall at present...12/09/08

*The 3rd coil did not improve the look of the other 2 coils. Changed my mind...decided to wrap the 3rd coil in black...3/16/09*
Following up with another wrapped coil in the natural Sinew for the finish...5/19/09

***The open wood cut Center will make this Basket unsuitable for holding small items such as small shells, rocks, potpourri, UNLESS a paper liner is layed in the bottom first.***

SLOW GOING WITH THIS ONE....I GOT FRUSTRATED WITH IT.... I needed a break.....started another Basket with a Hickory Nut Slice and began trying to work on finishing out the 2nd original EYE (unused) in the "Night Eagle"......a new Shaman's Shield...have not done one for a couple of years (see Wall Art GALLERY...SHAMAN'S SHIELD).....

This Basket was stored in a ziplock bag and set aside while I worked on other projects and set up the new Shop on Etsy. I decided the outer "roaming coils" does not suit this Basket and removed them.
